Fast Time Response NO Measurement : 2ms T10-90
The industry standard method of detecting NO has been adapted by Cambustion to produce the CLD500 Fast NOx analyser. This enables transient measurements of NO emissions from running engines.
The chemiluminescent detectors have been redesigned to be as small as possible, with minimum residence time of the sample gas in the reaction chamber. The reaction chamber is coupled to the Cambustion–patented constant pressure sampling system (to avoid exhaust sample pressure interference on the signal) and sample is drawn into the head through a stainless steel heated sample probe. There is very little mixing of the sample gas during its transit to the reaction chamber and therefore T10–90 response times of approximately 2 milliseconds are attained.
Optional Converter for NOx Measurement
NO2 may also be measured by the addition of optional NOx converters which are based on the stainless steel method of NO2 to NO conversion. These converters will provide a signal output corresponding to total NOx but are cross-sensitive to ammonia or other reductants in the sample. With the NOx convertors, the 10–90% response time is 10 milliseconds.
The CLD500 Fast CLD (introduced in 2001) is the latest in a series of fast CLD designs from Cambustion. The CLD500 is a two-channel analyser with the reaction chambers located in remote sample heads on 10 metre (30') umbilicals. The main control unit is housed in a mobile cabinet with the vacuum pump located in the base. The analyzer is controlled via RS232 or RS485 serial communications from a desktop or laptop computer supplied by Cambustion with the operating software already installed and tested. The interface provides full control of the instrument including auto–calibration, start–up, service reminders, self–test, and trouble–shooting and help functions with video assistance.
A range of options and accessories are also available including:
- NOx converters
- Multiple analyser enclosure
- Sub zero °C testing
- Digital remote control for integration with test cell systems.
- In-cylinder sampling kit
Cambustion can also supply engine and emissions consultancy, and service and maintenance contracts.
The ability to record NO emissions data on such a fast time scale has opened up a range of study areas: please see sample data.
